Remembering the Why Behind Starting Your Business as a Christian Entrepreneur
Hey there, fellow Christian entrepreneurs! Have you ever stopped to think about the ‘why’ behind your business? I've been reflecting on my journey with JoiB Consulting, and after much reflection, I’ve realized that, for me, it's so much more than a business. The journey has been about walking with people through their business journey, particularly with women birthing new businesses. I've jokily called myself a midwife for visionaries, bringing dreams to life.
Sure, making money is great, but what if we approached every decision we made for our business as an opportunity to impact the clients and communities we serve? As Christians, we must serve and fulfill God's mandate for our lives. This perspective, I believe, if we adopt, will help us redefine success in our business endeavors.
Remember how the Bible tells us to do everything as if we're doing it for the Lord? (Colossians 3:23-24, anyone?) Our business isn’t just about profit; they're platforms for ministry. The Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) isn't just for Sundays – it's for our businesses too!
So, how do we mix faith with business? It's all about bringing our Christian values into our day-to-day operations. From ethical practices to being a beacon of kindness in the market, we can make our businesses a reflection of our faith.
Let me share a story about a client I worked with. She was an author needing help with social media and showing up online. We revamped her social media strategy, and I even helped her create a landing page to promote her book and collect emails. But the real game-changer? Helping her see that perfectionism has no place when God calls you to a business. Instead, relying on God, the ultimate business strategist, is vital. This mindset shift led her to make bold, prayer-aligned decisions.
As we forge ahead on this journey of business ownership, may we remember why we started! Understanding that our business’s primary focus should be fulfilling God's purpose and mandate. Let's keep our businesses as testimonies of our faith and platforms to serve others.
I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences. How does your faith shape your business? Are there ways you're integrating your beliefs into your entrepreneurial journey?
